Exil de peintre is an artist's book containing 64 etchings and an unpublished text, La lettre au nègre, by Philippe Vandenberg. Exil de peintre was created by Philipe Vandenberg, Henri Hemelsoet, and Rein Ergo.

Exil de peintre was published in a limited edition of 33 copies.
The book consists of two volumes: a first part with a series of 53 etchings and the text, and a second part with a suite of eleven etchings signed and numbered by Philippe Vandenberg.
The book was presented on December 11, 2003, at the Caemersklooster in Ghent. Hans Martens was the curator of the exhibition, which included not only the book and the series of etchings, but also several monumental paintings.

This etching, the fifteenth in the original edition, was included in Débris, the third book.

Exil de peintre, Débris

At the conclusion of the project, an additional edition was produced from the remaining etchings (the proofs and residual prints) of the book, entitled Débris, which was distributed among friends and collectors.
Due to the unique condition of the collected proofs, each book was a stand-alone artifact, each book also providing a separate insight into the creation process of some of the etchings and the typographical disclosure of the text.

Débris is a publication created by Philippe Vandenberg and Rein Ergo using the remaining proofs and residual prints from Exil de peintre.
The Débris publication consists of two sets of 14 unnumbered copies, printed on Hahnemühle 150 g.
